Triple J Unearthed announce Australian DIY Supergroup loop competition

The DIY Supergroup competition challenges Australian producers to make a beat using loops included in their newly created Unearthed sample pack, which includes stems from Aussie artists such as Tame Impala, Flume, Tash Sultana, Amy Shark, G Flip, The Jungle Giants, Tkay Maidza and The Middle Kids. You’ve got to incorporate at least three loops from the pack into your recording – whether that may be a Flume drum loop, a blistering Tash riff or a bubbly Kevin Parker synth or maybe something completely different is up to you.

All you need to do is download the sample pack, cook up the track and upload your submission to the triple j Unearthed artist page by midnight on Sunday May 17 with the hashtag #DIYSUPERGROUP in the title. Finalists will be revealed on triple j Breakfast with Sally & Erica starting that week, with the station crowning the winner and giving the track airtime across the waves in the following weeks.

It definitely sounds like a fun way to get involved in the Aussie music community while in lockdown, and hey, you might even get a spin on the Js for all your hard work. At any rate, it’s a good excuse to hit the studio and chop up some samples, and at the end of the day, it doesn’t get any much more fun than that.

Head to Triple J Unearthed for terms and conditions and for more information.
