Tool, Megadeth and Billy Sheehan to present livestreamed rhythm section workshop

The interactive Zoom event is set to be presented by the school’s bass department, and will feature Tool’s famed rhythm section Danney Carey and Justin Chancellor, as well as Megadeth’s Dave Ellefson and Dirk Verbueren, Billy Sheehan and Korn drummer Ray Luzier.

The Berklee webinar is set to dive into the evolution of the musical journey of each player involved in the event to “better understand this ‘Heavy’ drum/bass relationship where groove, precision, and intensity are key,” as well as offering tutorials on some of the techniques they’ve utilised across their career. The program has also saved a portion of the event for the players to discuss “education, conversation, career advice, and gig stories” to those partaking in the stream.

If you’re keen to tune in, you can register for the Berklee Bass Webinar here – however, it does go down at 1pm Eastern Time, which is around 3am on a Friday morning for all of us in Australia. Despite kicking off at that grim hour of the morning, we reckon it’s 100% worth setting an alarm for: it’s rare to be able to access a masterclass with this kind of expertise for free.

Find out more and register for the live-streamed event via Berklee’s registration page.
