After performing one of the most famous headline Bluesfest sets ever and seemingly playing her "last" Australian shows back in 2017, Patti Smith has announced a string of sideshows next April.
As one of the most celebrated figures in the rock canon, the news that Smith was performing her final shows on Australian soil was obviously a big deal when it broke back in 2017. Thankfully, Smith apparently contacted Bluesfest and gave them the green light for 2020, saying in a press statement that "I really didn’t expect to be coming back, but it was just such a great trip. I really thought that I wouldn’t be able to come back – so I’m delighted that I was wrong".
Given the circumstance of her return - I'm sure it'd be easy to make some kind of Biblical allusion here - there's absolutely NO chance that tickets for these shows will last. Unfortunately, Smith is only performing dates in Sydney and Melbourne (it's almost like the rest of the country doesn't exist?), so interstate fans will have to take a jet over to see the punk-poet in the flesh. It's definitely worth it though.
Dates and details below - presale kicks off this Thursday at 10am, while tickets for the general public are released at 10am on Monday October 28.
