First up, there’s the new Sabre, a modern revamp of the company’s classic model from the ’70s and ’80s. These new models have a bit of a Super Strat vibe to them, with a deluxe okoume body and carved maple book-matched top with natural binding. Like most Ernie Ball guitars these days, the neck, which features a slightly wider nut width than usual, is crafted from roasted figured maple, and can be purchased with either a maple or rosewood fretboard. The new Sabre guitars come loaded with custom Ernie Ball Music Man humbuckers and are wired via a five-way selector switch, and also feature Ernie Ball’s sweet tremolo system. They’ll be available in four lavish finishes: Cobra, Honey Suckle, Blue Moonstone and the Migos-inspired Boujee Burst.
Other changes for 2020 include new finishes for John Petrucci’s signature models with the brand, including Cereluan Paradise for the JP15 and Pink Sand, Red Phoenix, Smoked Pearl and Ember Glow for the Majesty. The Luke II, which is the signature model for Toto shredder Steve Lukather, is also available in a range of new colours, and can also now be purchased with a premium figured maple top, with Cherry Burst and Luscious Green finishes available. Expect to see new finishes for the Cutlass RS, Stingray RS, Valentine Signature and Dustin Kensrue Stingray as well – we really dig the TV Yellow and Shell Pink colours here!
There’s also a range of finish updates for the Stingray bass range, including the Stingray Special, new short scale Stingray Special and Stingray-5. Highlights from these new colours include Starry Night, Ghostwood, Maroon Mist, Firemist Silver and Ghost Pepper.
