JUNIOR MUSIC PUBLICIST – GYRO PR (Brisbane)

Looking for a part-time position in the music industry? This just might be the ticket. GYRO PR, the publicity division of GYROStream, is looking to hire an experienced Junior Publicist looking to progress further in their career to start in mid-June.

 

Skills/Responsibilities Required:

  • A minimum two years experience in publicity, the music industry or a related field
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong ability to be articulate with media, artists and manager
  • Ability to thrive in a multi-tasking, fast paced working environment 
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to work effectively in a deadline driven environment
  • Initiative and ability to work unsupervised
  • A desire to work long-term in the music industry
  • Availability to work out-of-hours and be available for evening and weekend events
  • Proficiency in G Suite applications, Mailchimp, Canva and Excel
  • Understanding of an artist’s release cycle and knowledge of the structure of the music industry and/or communications/ journalism qualification preferred, but not essential

Tasks Include:

  • Managing select PR and playlist plugging campaigns to raise awareness of our clients
  • Providing major PR campaign support to the Head of PR and Marketing
  • Writing monthly newsletters
  • Updating the GYROstream blog, social media and playlists where required
  • Maintaining all media databases on a regular basis
  • Answering reactive media requests
  • Assisting with events 
  • Managing department travel and itineraries
  • Additional administrative tasks to ensure the smooth running of the department

CATALOGUE STREAMING MANAGER – SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT (Sydney)

Big industry corporate dogs Sony are on the lookout for a passionate and experienced individual to jump on board as Catalogue Streaming Manager and implement their sales and marketing genius to drive success for the company.

 

Skills/Responsibilities Required:

  • Extensive knowledge and interest in all genres of music across Sony Music’s catalogue
  • Total dedication and passion towards promoting music and our artists
  • Understanding of the music industry landscape, particularly with digital music services
  • Ability to easily build rapport with artists, artist management, media and business partners
  • Educated understanding of the digital music market, SEO and short from content monetisation
  • Previous experience in sales and marketing in the entertainment industry
  • Strong writing skills, attention to detail and time management
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded

Tasks Include:

  • Working closely with our digital team to develop off-platform digital strategies promoting streaming consumption
  • Assisting the digital team in ensuring the artist profiles are regularly updated across all retail partners
  • Ensuring we are driving additional revenue and market share across retail partners
  • Working with internal teams around the creation of content
  • Knowledge across data and analytics as well as providing regular reporting for digital sales and marketing divisions
  • Collaborate with Sony Music frontline marketing mangers on catalogue streaming plans leading up to new releases and between album campaigns
  • Manage artist presences on streaming accounts, testing and updating best practices to maximise consumption, artist integrity and fan engagement
  • Identify and exploit real-time cultural moments involving catalogue content, maximising consumption around syncs, memes and viral media
  • Review reporting to measure effectiveness of campaigns and make informed recommendations
  • Communicate with global counterparts on current campaigns and effective campaign practices
  • Oversee the generation of creative elements for campaigns, including working with internal creative teams

BEAT MAGAZINE – ADVERTISING AND CONTENT SALES (Melbourne)

Beat Magazine, our buddies who graciously let us share their office, are on the hunt for an advertising wizard to join the team and help sell spicy content and make fat racks. This position is based in Melbourne, and offers uncapped incentives and a retainer.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Working on Beat Magazine (print and digital) along with other Furst Media magazines
  • Generating, prospecting and canvassing new leads for potential advertisers
  • Building and maintaining client relationships in order to gain repeated business and referrals
  • Actively pitch native content ideas and campaigns
  • Content and editorial coordination and budgeting

Requirements:

  • Must have minimum 1.5 – 2 years experience in sales
  • A genuine passion for all things music, arts, culture and lifestyle
  • A strong knowledge of Melbourne’s cultural scene. Including venues, bars, clubs, pubs, music, the arts, eateries and entertainment
  • Highly driven and self-motivated
  • Outbound sales experience and/or an existing contact base preferred
  • Willingness to work outside of the normal 9-5 to reach sales targets
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced atmosphere
  • Drive and own a car
