Gibson’s custom range of guitars are renowned for their first-class craftsmanship. They aim for the highest quality of vintage materials and always hit top marks in this department.
In true patriotic fashion, the American guitar manufactures have decided to create a one-off ‘American Sniper’ themed guitar to honour the late Navy Seal Chris Kyle, the subject of the American Sniper film.
Based on a 1950’s Reissue Les Paul, the guitar has a hand-carved skull and crosshair finish embedded in camouflage colours. The guitar also resembles a piece of history, with it featuring a 7.62mm bullet shell taken from one of Kyle's missions embedded into the headstock.
With gun violence being a hot topic in American politics (in particular school shootings), this guitar may be subject to some negative feedback and will certainly raise questions on its promotion of guns.
With only one guitar currently in circulation, it will soon be auctioned off for the charity: Spirit Of A Hero Foundation, with all proceeds going to aid the wounded soldiers of the US military.
