Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan shares new track, album details

‘Chip Away’ sees McKagan delve into a new alt-country inspired sound, fuelled by chugging guitars, fiddles and organs. Lyrically, ‘Chip Away’ explores the absurdist nature of today’s mass media and how it impacts society, with McKagan explicitly referencing Flat Earth theorists and cable news channels throughout the song.

“’Chip Away’ is somewhat of a rail against cable news and divisive agendas…all for the almighty dollar,” said McKagan in a statement released today. “The song also highlights the fact that history repeats itself over and over, and that we will all get past this, together.”

Following previously released lead single ‘Tenderness,’ ‘Chip Away’ serves as the second offering from McKagan’s upcoming solo release, Tenderness. The album, which is set for release on Friday May 31, features production from country musician Shooter Jennings and his own band.
