GORILLAZ RELEASE NEW VIDEO

Gorillaz Main.jpg

The song features the UK poet and singer Benjamin Clementine, who in the video sings directly to the camera while a series of disparate images flash behind him, each seeming to be a comment on American imperialism. According to the band the lyrical content ‘explores themes of power, big business and humanity’, with the opening shot seemingly placing Clementine inside Trump tower, as he croons menacingly about the virtues of capitalism.

The song was announced via the band’s official Twitter account, described in their post as ‘a lightening bolt of truth in a black night’.

The last time Gorillaz released any new music was the Andre 3000 featuring single ‘Do Ya Thing’, to promote their branded Converse shoes in 2012. Their last non-compilation album was The Fall, in 2011, following which, according to bandleader Damon Albarn, co-creator Jamie Hewlett and he experienced a personal falling out. Whatever the current situation of their relationship, we’re glad  Gorillaz are back.
