Gorillaz announce Song Machine project + share new single ‘Momentary Bliss’

According to a press statement, Song Machine is a linear music video series that will launch continuously over the span of 2020, signaling yet another alternate approach to the traditional album cycle. Gorillaz drummer Russel explained the nature of the project further in the release, saying “World is moving faster than a supercharged particle, so we’ve gotta stay ready to drop. We don’t even know who’s stepping through the studio next. Song Machine feeds on the unknown, runs on pure chaos. So whatever the hell’s coming, we’re primed and ready to produce like there’s no tomorrow.”

The band, helmed by Damon Albarn, have launched the project with the release of new single ‘Momentary Bliss’, which features a verse from Northampton rapper and UK punks Slaves. Interestingly enough, it sounds like it pinches a vocal cadence from A$AP Rocky and Skepta’s ‘Praise The Lord (Da Shine)’ about halfway through, but other than that, it’s pretty stock standard Gorillaz – there’s some plinky keys, a slightly mashed electro beat and some liquid guitars interlaced throughout it. Give it a geez below.
