Gibson unveil the Joan Jett Signature 339

A deluxe looking model with high end specs to match, the Joan Jett ES 339 features a three-ply AAA figured maple/poplar/maple veneer top, as well as a thermally enginereed maple centre block and Adirondack spruce bracing, providing the instrument with more structural stability and a resonant tone. Joan Jett’s new Signature 339 also boasts a thick quarter-sawn C profile mahogany neck for thick chords and wooly leads, as well as a bone nut and ABR bridge with nylon saddles for a distinctive tone that’ll cut through the mix like butter.

On first glance, it looks like Gibson have paid just as much attention to the electronics of the Joan Jett 339 as they have to the body construction, handwiring it with BurstBucker 2 humbuckers and Orange Drop capacitors with twin volume/tone knobs and a three-way toggle switch. As requested by Jett herself, the guitar features three Black Witch Hat control knobs and a single Modified Speed Knob for the bridge pickup volume, letting you go from 0 to 100 real quick.

Check out Jett discussing the guitar and design process in the video above. This model’s only limited to 150 units, with each boasting its own hardcase and certificate of authenticity. There’s also a number of hand-signed units available, which you can check out here.
