Continuing the company’s bi-monthly tradition, the Ball Family Reserve September run is comprised of five spec’d out bespoke models, including two flashy Cutlass models, a Bongo bass, a JP6 and a very slick Mariposa.
First up, there’s the two EBMM Cutlass models, which have seemingly been given the ’80s treatment with their zesty Lemon and Lime finishes. Both models boast basswood bodies and Music Man Floyd Rose locking tremolo bridges for optimised shreddery, while a DiMarzio Axis bridge humbucker and two Music Man single coil pickups offer a myriad of tones.
The Lime Cutlass is also decked with a matching Lime headstock and a maple fretboard, and is limited to 40 pieces worldwide. Meanwhile, the Lemon Cutlass features a rosewood fretboard, and is decked out with all black hardware and a matching black painted headstock with gold Ernie Ball Music Man decals – it’s also limited to 35 models worldwide.
The September BFR range also boasts the JP6 in a cool Cinnamon Shift finish, with a basswood body offering a wonderful tonal response and lightweight playing experience. It’s loaded with DiMarzio Liquifire and Crunch Lab pickups with a push-pull volume knob for a 20dB gain boost when required, as well as a matching Cinnamon Shift finish on the neck and headstock. If you’re keen, you’ll have to act quick – these ones are only limited to 50 units internationally.
For the low-end enthusiasts, there’s also the September BFR Bongo 5 HH, finished in a gorgeous Satin Honey Burst and limited to 60 models worldwide. With a huge hunk of Honduran mahogany for the body and a slick painted neck and headstock, the BFR Bongo 5 promises to look just as good as it sounds, with dual neodymium magnet humbuckers and a powerful preamp offering a huge spectrum of tones right at your fingertips. This one’s rounded out with all-black hardware, lightweight tuners and the notable absence of a pickguard – personally, we really dig it!
Finally – and perhaps the most enticing model of the bunch – the BFR Mariposa, wrapped up in a killer Transparent Black finish and featuring a figured maple top. It features a roasted maple neck with cream binding and an ebony fretboard with pearl block inlays, while custom Ernie Ball Music Man humbucking pickups with chrome covers round things up. With only 40 models being crafted, it’s safe to say you will not want to snooze on your orders for this one – so head to your local Ernie Ball dealer and get your order in ASAP!
