The Stingray Guitar is built with an African mahogany body with a maple neck and 25.5″ maple or rosewood fingerboard, coupled with a Music Man modern vibrato, Schaller M6-IND locking tuners and two Music Man custom-wound humbuckers. The Stingrays will launch with 4 colour/fretboard options – Vintage Tobacco (rosewood), Black (rosewood), Ivory White (maple) and Chili Red (maple).

Meanwhile, the Cutlass serves up an alder body, maple neck with 25.5″ rosewood or maple fingerboard, as well as the same Music Man modern vibrato, Schaller M6-IND locking tuners and a trio of Music Man mid-60s-style single coil pick-ups. The Cutlass guitars will launch once again with 4 colour/fretboard options Ivory White (maple), Black (maple), Vintage Sunburst (rosewood) and Vintage Turquoise (rosewood).

Although these particular models are new, both of these guitar designs date back to the very early days of Ernie Ball. The Stingray guitar from the mid-70s back when Leo Fender was still involved in the company. The Cutlass guitar never actually went into production, aside from a bass variant that existed in the early 80s.

We can expect more info on the Ernie Ball Modern Classic models at this years NAMM. Rumour has it they will be available for pre-order soon after the event finishes up. Hopefully some will make their way down to Australian retailers in the not too distant future.
