Combining classic body shapes with contemporary appointments and finishes, Epiphone's new Muse series looks like it's going to be a hit among players looking for an affordable entry-level instrument.
As part of the new Inspired by Gibson Collection, the Muse range provides the classic designs of Gibson classics but with features like phase controls, coil-splitting pickups, speed knobs and metallic features. There's an assortment of Les Pauls and SGs to choose from, with each boasting their own unique features.
Both the Epiphone Muse Les Paul and SG featuree a Custom C-shaped mahogany neck with Indian laurel fretboard, with the Les Paul boasting a chambered mahogany body with a maple cap to ensure it doesn't skimp out on tone. It's also got a unique belly scarf to make it more comfortable than a regular Les Paul carve, as well as Grover Rotomatic tuners. Both models also feature Epiphone stop bar tailpieces and LockTone ABR bridges, and the Muse SG also utilises lighweight 3x3 tuners to prevent any potential neck dive.
In the electronics department, the Epiphone Muse range offers a pair of high-output Alnico Classic Pro humbuckers, which are beefed up with coil-splitting, phase control and treble bleed circuits to cover a wide range of tonal possibilties. The range is also matched with an array of wonderful finishes: these include Radio Blue Metallic, Wanderlust Green Metallic, Purple Passion Metallic, Jet Black Metallic, Smoked Almond Metallic, Pearl White Metallic and Scarlet Red Metallic.
