Danish rockers D-A-D take on modern technology with an iPhone bass

Debuted by Danish rock outfit D-A-D live on stage this week, the iPhone bass is one of the most bizarre guitars you’re likely to see. Essentially, the two-stringed bass is a giant iPhone that functions simultaneously as a musical instrument and video device.

The monstrous creation appears to film the audience while bassist Stig Pederson is playing, a theory confirmed by Pederson’s tech Troels Bjørn in a Gear Rundown with TC Electronic. Bjørn notes that the iPhone bass is capable of livestreaming to Facebook – a smart choice in 2018.

It’s certainly a clever way to acknowledge the thousands of faces in the crowd with phones in the air. How the tables have turned.

This bass could rival the electric guitar made out of 40,000 matchsticks.
