D’Angelico announces acquisition of Supro and Pigtronix brands

In a statement distributed to press today, D’Angelico’s Chairman John Ferolito Jr. touched on the acquisition, saying that the brand have always held a deep respect for Supro and Pigtronix’s brand ethos.

“We have always had a deep appreciation for Supro’s products and brand,” he said. “When the opportunity to acquire the brand arose, we didn’t think twice.”

In case you’ve been in the dark, Pigtronix mastermind Dave Koltai actually bought the rights for Supro back in 2013 and was repsonsible for spearheading the brand’s revival, with the two companies being closely associated ever since. In addition, D’Angelico and Supro have also shared marketing campaigns in recent years, with the acquisition essentially solidifying the partnership between the three brands even further.

“The acquisition of Supro and Pigtronix by D’Angelico creates a trifecta,” Pigtronix’s Dave Koltai said, as well as announcing that he’s planning to stay on as D’Angelico’s chief technology officer. “It’s a perfect fit, and I am thrilled to be able to continue making new gear for musicians around the world.”

While details on further developments are scarce at this stage, D’Angelico have hinted at the prospect of new products from the brands being announced in 2021 – watch this space.
