Cort tap into the boutique market with the X700 Duality

Boasting a deluxe Flame Maple top upon a swamp ash body, the X700 sees Cort dipping their toes into boutique territory once again as they venture into different market sectors. The neck also uses a combination of both maple and Panga Panga for a distinctive appearance and feel, while the Ebony fretboard is fitted with glow-in-the-dark Luminlay side dots and stainless steel frets. There’s also a recessed CFA-III Tremolo system to let you swoop and dive that whammy bar like an angry spring magpie, while Cort’s staggered locking tuners will keep everything in tune.

In the electronics department, the X700 features a Seymour Duncan TB4 in the bridge position and an SH2N neck humbucker, which are wired to a five-way blade pickup selector and single volume and tone controls. It’s a pretty impressive looking and sounding instrument – kudos to Cort for taking a crack at the high-end market here. If they keep things up, we reckon it’ll definitely strike a chord with consumers, but I guess time will tell.
